Background:

West Raynham Church of England Primary School is a primary school for boys and girls. The present school building dates from 1854. At that time, the school was a school for girls and infants. The boys of the district attended the school at Helhoughton. Later, West Raynham became a mixed school for children from four to 11 years. The children are given the opportunity to perform and compose music. They learn to sing traditional and modern songs from different cultures and use both tuned and untuned instruments. Pupils compose accompaniment and develop their musical ideas through improvising, composing and arranging. Computers in the classroom are used in conjunction with classroom work to enhance all aspects of the curriculum. Pupils enjoy football, and after-school sessions are run by football in the community and by parents. The school aims to create a secure and positive environment in which the achievements of each child are valued and in which all pupils will develop their abilities to the full in an enjoyable and pleasant way.
