Background:

Situated in Poringland, a few miles south-west of Norwich, the present school was built in 1967 to provide eight traditional classrooms. A further classroom was added in 1972, followed by a purpose-built nursery in 1995. A steady rise in the school population has since necessitated the recent addition of three mobile classrooms. The school is 'renowned' for its music, with an orchestra and two 'thriving' choirs providing the focus. Children are encouraged to specialise and there is currently tuition in recorder, flute, clarinet, cornet, saxophone, guitar, cello and violin. The school recorder ensemble regularly wins awards in music competitions. The school also has a reputation for producing good cross-country runners and both the boys' and girls' teams enjoy success in the local league. After-school clubs include badminton, gymnastics, cross-country and art. There is also a breakfast club for SATs revision. Each year, pupils raise very substantial funds for local or national charities according to the choice of the active, pupil-led school council. The school recently stopped admission at Key Stage 2 as a result of increased demand.
