Background:
Founded in 1874, the school occupies extended Victorian buildings and also a mobile classroom. In 2000, Wicklewood gained an international award for work on multi ethnicity and is an organising school for a Comenius project, with other partners being located in Sardinia, Spain and Germany. There is also a non-language based link with a school in France. The school has some facilities for disabled pupils, including a toilet and shower. Between 1998 and 2000, the school grounds were landscaped as part of a community project. Pupils also benefit from access to the information and communication technology (ICT) suite and a number of lunchtime and after-school clubs. The school provides a happy and secure environment in which the contribution of each member of the whole school community is respected and valued, and each child is encouraged to develop respect for themselves and others.
