Background:

Built in 1979, the school is set in landscaped grounds, approximately two miles from King's Lynn city centre and accepts children from a 'wide' geographical area. 'An increasing number' of extra-curricular activities are organised for the children, including dance, badminton, drama, indoor and outdoor football, mini-rugby, basketball, computers, ensemble and netball. South Wootton has a 'strong reputation' for music, the choir being a 'particular strength'. All pupils are given the opportunity to play a 'wide variety' of musical instruments such as the violin, trumpet, clarinet, flute and saxophone. The school gains 'much success' in inter-school sports competitions, especially football, cross-country running and track athletics. South Wootton is 'very much an integral part of the local community' and the children are 'frequently' taken out into the community as well as inviting the community into school. In 1998 a computer suite, with 14 personal computers, was installed. This 'further enhanced the learning environment'.
