Background:
Situated on a large site near the centre of Fakenham, the school is housed in attractive Victorian buildings. Facilities include a heated indoor swimming pool, large field, quiet play area, wildflower garden, music room, new hall and specialist area for gymnastics, dance and drama. Twice a year, pupils are able to choose from a range of activities outside of the National Curriculum, including 'crazy construction', 'going wild' and 'flying your kite'. The arts and music are 'high valued' and group and individual tuition is offered in a 'variety' of music instruments. Artists visit the school to work with the children. Fundraising activities for various charities are held regularly and are 'often initiated and organised by the children'. The deputy headteacher is the special educational needs (SEN) co-ordinator and focussed teaching is available for small groups and individuals. A 'strong' team of teaching assistants are employed to support SEN pupils within mainstream classes.
