Background:
Founded in 1977, the school is in a rural locality and children travel to school from their villages bus. There is a 'real social mix' of pupils and St Mary's prides itself on its 'breadth of education'. In addition to day visits, residential trips are offered in evey year group. In addition to 'the usual' sports offered by primary schools, St Mary's offers rugby, squash, canoeing, sailing. This gives children who are not good at football and netball the chance to develop their potential. The school's charity work is 'well-known' in the area, and it raises funds for Jeans for Genes and UNICEF.
