Background:

Blackdale Middle School is set in attractive wooded grounds to the west of the city on the edge of the University. The school's woods, fields and conservation garden provide a pleasant and relaxing setting as well as an excellent opportunity for the children to learn about their environment. The school was opened in 1959. The main school building is all on one level and there is access for wheelchair users. The classrooms are light, airy and well looked after. Facilities include a kiln, library, showers, music room and ICT room. The school offers a range of activities, which take place outside the normal school day. These include table tennis, cross-stitch, reading, football, rugby, netball, music and skipping. The school has recently achieved Investor in People status, confirmation of the way the whole community works together to provide good quality education. The school aims to provide a safe and supportive environment which fosters the development of every child and one that creates respect for all.
