Background:
The school was endowed by John Wright for the poor of the village in 1796. The school has been expanded over the years and in 1990 the junior end of the school was refurbished. The school has a music club and a choir, with tuition in recorder, clarinet, flute, violin, guitar and keyboards. The school's football and netball teams play friendly and league matches as well as tournaments against other schools in the area.
