Background:
The school was founded in 1826 by Lord Suffield for his estate workers and the village. Situated on Southrepps common, a site of special scientific interest (SSSI), the school serves five local villages an also accepts some children from outside the catchment area. Facilities include a wildlife garden, playing field, five classrooms, library, information and communicatin technology (ICT) suite and music room. Antingham and Southrepps boasts links with schools in Finland, Austria and Germany and German conversation classes are introduced in Year 5. Football, netball and cricket teams play in a local league and music clubs operate twice a week after school. There are 'strong' community links and ICT classes are now held in the school. Since the implementation of the 1999 action plan, following the Ofsted inspection in September of that year, standards have risen in Key Stage 1 as shown in the 2000 assessment results. The provision for special educational needs (SEN) has also been re-assessed and the school now addresses the early identification of SEN. Following the appointment of extra staff, small group work and support in class is available for all SEN children.
